His Honorable Phra Promwachirayan, Committee of Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand, Abbot of Wat Yannawa, Royal Monastery, Bangkok, Advisor of The Council of Thai Bhikkhus in the USA, The President of Board of Directors of Wat Nawamintararachutis, and the President of NMR meditation center building committee.
According to His Honorable Phra Promwachirayan, the opening ceremony would be in June, 2014. We are preparing to get ready for the opening day. This building project is under patronage of His Holiness Supreme Patriarch and under the support of Thai government to build in order to commemorate to His Majesty the King, Bhumibol Adulayadej’s the sixtieth anniversary celebrations of His Majesty’s accession to the throne on June 9, 2006, and to be the commemorative place in His birthplace, Cambridge, Boston, MA. and also to extend the good relationship of America and Thailand.
We are on the schedule to complete the construction and including the interior decoration of the Thai architectural fine art work in early next year. So the committee would submit the invitation to the Royal palace to invite the member of the Royal family to preside over the grand opening ceremony in June. The Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand and Thai government as well as the US local government will be invited to participate in the opening ceremony. There would be also international gathering of the Overseas Buddhist Dhammaduta Bhikkhus from all over the world to hold the annual international conference arranged by The Council of Thai Bhikkhus in the USA.
This place would be the educational and cultural center; there are also head office of the Council of Thai Bhikkhus in the USA, and the international Buddhist center. We will also provide the international meditation course and class for everyone those who are interested in learning and practicing meditation.
We believe that this center would be center of spirituality, virtues, and ethical conduct all generations which lead to good deeds and decent behavior to be good citizen of the happy society and to cultivate the eternal love and peaceful harmony for the benefit of all mankind. In addition the multi-purpose hall would provide service to organize the social cultural public activities for all Thai, Asian, and American as well.
His Honorable Phra Promwachirayan is one of the most senior overseas Thai Buddhist Dhammaduta monks in earlier age who traveled to perform religious activities in America since 1975. His honorable firstly built up Wat Dhammaram, Thai Buddhist temple in Chicago, Miami, Florida, and Houston, and supervised many temples, and helping to set up the Council of Thai Bhikkhus in the USA, and elected to become the first president of this organization from 1987 to 1997. Due to His Honorable is promoted to higher hierarchical ranking and appointed to be committee of Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand and more responsibility and administrative duty in Bangkok, he still keeps travelling in and out in America and in other countries, and he is the advisory boards of The Council of Thai Bhikkhus in the USA from 1998 till now.
