Asalha Puja Day, also called Dharma Day, is a very important holy day for the Theravada Buddhists. This religious festival day is celebrated in the 8th lunar month according to the old Indian calendar, on the day of the full moon. It is meant to celebrate the very first teachings from Buddha. In 2017 Wat Nawamintararachutis will celebrate on July 4th, which is the 11th day of the waxing moon of the eight lunar month.

09:00 Homage to the Lord Buddha
10:00 Homage to the Triple Gem
– Dhamma talk (Dhammadesana) by the headmonk of watnawamintararachutis (NMR meditation Center)
– Congregation assembles for a group photograph
– Offering of alms (tak bat) to the monks
11:30 Offering of lunch to monks / Congregation also partakes of lunch.
12.30 – Congregation collects offerings in appreciation of the sermon and presents the collection, the Papah to the monks.
-Head monk blesses the congregation. The other monks join in extending the blessings. The congregation receives the blessings.

วันอาสาฬหบูชา ตรงกับวันขึ้น ๑๕ ค่ำ เดือน ๘ เป็นวันที่พระพุทธเจ้าได้ทรงประกาศพระพุทธศาสนาเป็นครั้งแรก โดยแสดงปฐมเทศนา คือ ธัมมจักกัปปวัตนสูตร โปรดพระปัญจวัคคีย์ทั้ง ๕ ที่ป่าอิสิปตนมฤคทยวัน เมืองพาราณสี แคว้นมคธ เป็นเหตุให้พระอัญญาโกณฑัญญะได้บรรลุธรรม ขอบวชเป็นพระภิกษุรูปแรกในพระพุทธศาสนา จึงถือว่าวันนี้มีพระรัตนตรัยครบบริบูรณ์ คือ พระพุทธ พระธรรม และพระสงฆ์
อนึ่ง วันเข้าพรรษา เป็นวันเริมต้นที่พระภิกษุสงฆ์จะต้องอธิษฐานจำพรรษาอยู่กับที่ไม่เที่ยวจาริกไปยังที่ต่างๆ เป็นเวลา ๓ เดือน นับตั้งแต่วันแรม ๑ ค่ำ เดือน ๘ ถึงวันขึ้น ๑๕ ค่ำเดือน ๑๑ ของทุกปี โดยปีนี้ ตรงกับวันที่ ๙ กรกฎาคม ถึง วันที่ ๕ ตุลาคม เมื่อวันสำคัญเช่นนี้เวียนมาถึงเพื่อให้พุทธศาสนิกชนร่วมกันบำเพ็ญมหากุศลในวันสำคัญทางพระพุทธศาสนา. วัดนวมินทรราชูทิศ เฉลิมพระเกียรติ นครเคมบริดจ์-บอสตัน จึงได้จัดงานขึ้น โดยมีกำหนดการ ดังนี้

ปฏิบัติธรรมเพื่อถวายเป็นพุทธบูชา และถวายเป็นพระราชกุศลอุทิศถวายพระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดช ในพระบรมโกศ
วันอังคารที่ ๔ กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. ๒๕๖๐
เวลา ๙.๐๐ น. -เปิดโอกสให้พุทธศาสนิกชนกราบนมัสการ พระพุทธศิลป์ สามสมัย อู่ แสน สุข
– ตั้งกองผ้าป่าเพื่อร่วมสมทบทุนบรุงค่าน้ำ ค่าไฟ
เวลา ๑๐.๐๐ น.- พิธีทักษิณานุปทาน อุทิศส่วนกุศลแด่บุรพาจารย์ บุรพการี
เวลา ๑๐.๑๕ น. แสดงพระธรรมเทศนา ๑ กัณฑ์ โดย พระภาวนาวชิรวิเทศ วิ. หัวหน้าสงฆ์วัดนวมินทรราชูทิศ
– พระสงฆ์เจริญพระพุทธมนต์
-ประธานสงฆ์กล่าวสัมโมทนียกถา
– พระสงฆ์ในพิธีอนุโมทนา
– สาธุชนกรวดน้ำรับพร
