SUMMARY:Magha Puja Day Full Moon
DESCRIPTION: \nAN ADMONITION TO THE GREAT GATHERING\nOF THE SANGHA ON THE FULL MOON DAY OF MĀGHA\nAt a time when the Buddha was staying at the Bamboo Grove near Rājagaha\, there was a great gathering of the Buddha’s disptples called Cāturanga Sannipāta i.e. Great Gathering blesses in four ways:\n1. It was the full-moon day of the third lunar month;\n2. One thousand two hundred and fifty bhikkhus gathered together without prior appointment:\n3. They all were fully enlightened (arahants):\n4. They all were ordained by the Master himself.\nThe Buddha then delivered to them a special instruction whereby he summed up his teaching. This was called Ovādapātimokkha\, which to mention a few lines\, runs as follows:\nAbstention from all evil.\nCultivation of the wholesome\,\nPurification of the heart:\nthis is the Message of the Buddhas.\nIt is now considered an auspicious holiday called Māghapūjā Day\, when people in all the Buddhist countries perform a special service in commemoration of their Master.\nทรงแสดงโอวาทปาติโมกข์แก่ประชุมสงฆ์ในวันเพ็ญเดือนมาฆะ\nขณะที่พระพุทธเจ้าประทับอยู่ที่เวฬุวัน เมืองราชคฤห์ ได้มีการประชุมครั้งใหญ่ เรียกว่า จาจุรงคสันนิบาต หรือ การประชุมที่ประกอบด้วยองค์ ๔ ประการคือ\n๑.

SUMMARY:Full Moon Observance Day
DESCRIPTION:Evening chanting\, meditation\, taking of the precepts and a Dhamma talk will take place at Wat Nawamin from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM\nThe evening continues with a meditation vigil through the night\, with sitting and walking meditation as one wishes in half-hour segments. There is an intermission with tea and informal discussion at midnight\, then sitting and walking resume until morning chanting at  3:00 AM Visitors are very welcome to attend as much of the night as they wish\nINSIGHT MEDITATION CLASS\nIN THE WAY OF THE BUDDHA\nAT NMR MEDITATION CENTER\n \nWhat is Meditation?\nMeditation refers to the mental activity of sustaining conscious awareness on one thing\, perception\, concept\, process or sensation. This may be\, for example\, the process of breathing\, an external object\, the concept and emotion of loving-kindness\, a meaningful word\, a physical sensation or the perception of impermanence Meditation can be done in any posture\, but the most common ones are sitting cross-legged and walking back and forth. As mindful attention becomes increasingly continuous\, the dispersed and distracted energy of the mind becomes more focused and clear. The act of sustaining awareness calms and soothes both the body and mind\, while the focusing of attention energizes and brightens the mind.\n        The deeper the mediation becomes\, the more quiet\, still and blissful one feels. This cleansed and purified awareness\, developed through repeated training\, yields extraordinary clarity of mind. One begins to see things as they truly are\, beyond the limitations of conditioned perceptions and habitual thought patterns. As one sees clearly\, wisdom is born\, and thus serenity and insight form an inseparable pair that is gradually cultivated through meditation.\n          There are two lands of mental culture\, namely; Concentration meditation (Samatha Bhavna) and Insight meditation (Vipassana Bhavna). The details of meditation practice cannot be given here but those who want more information about meditation practice may contact Wat Nawamintararachutis of Cambridge-Boston Massachusetts USA at the mailing address provided below. Wat Nawamintararachutis 382 South Street East Raynham\, MA 02767 \nEmail: watnawamin2545@yahoo.com\, Web Site: www.watnawamin.org\, Facebook: watnawamintararachutis Boston\n \n \nNMR Meditation Center Schedule\nPlease arrive 9 minutes early for Meditation.\nPlease wear white cloth colors to the NMR Meditation.\nPlease do not wear shorts and sleeveless tops.\nMeditation schedule is as follow:-\nJanuary 26th–28st\,  February 23th -25th \, March 23th-25th\, April 27-29th \,  May 25th -27th \,  June 22th– 24th\,  July 27th -29th\,  August 24th-26th\,  September 28nd-30th\,  October 26th-28th \,  November 23th-25th\,  December 28th-30st \, 2018\nWe welcome everyone to join our Meditation program.\n \nBuddhism Begins\nWhere Science Ends\n       \n       Science can give no assurance herein.  But Buddhism can meet the atomic challenge\, because the supramundane knowledge of Buddhism  begins where science leaves off.  And this is clear enough to anyone who has made study of Buddhism.  For\, through Buddhist meditation\,  the atomic constituents making up matter have been seen  and felt\, and the sorrow or unsatisfactoriness(or Dukkha)\,  of their “arising and passing away” (dependent on causes) has made itself with what we call  a ‘soul’ or ‘atma’ the illusion of Sakkayaditthi\,  as it has called in the Buddha’s teaching.\nEgerton C.
